Data collection for the first phase of the sixth census resumed for the second day in different parts of the country Thursday.
The authorities have made tight security arrangements in areas where the census exercise is to be conducted.
Data for the census will be collected in six districts in Karachi along with Hyderabad, Ghotki, and Sehwan Sharif.
The data collection exercise will continue for three days in 16 districts in Punjab including Lahore, Jhang, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Rajanpur.
Data will be collected from five districts of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan in the first phase.
Census activities will continue till March 17 in 14 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (excluding Peshawar) and Federally Administered Tribal Areas and 15 districts of Balochistan.
Enumerators will collect housing data from March 15 till 17 and head count data from March 18 till 27. The exercise will be conducted every day from March 13 from 8 AM till 4 PM.
According to chief statistician Asif Bajwa, as many as 118,000 enumerators from different departments, including the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, have been trained for the process. 175,000 Army personnel have been deployed in the districts for the first phase of the census.
One Army soldier will remain attached with each enumerator throughout the exercise.
