Translation of Dr. Shams Jilani “Roshni Hira Say”
The killing of Abu Jahl and other chiefs, the victory of the Muslims and
some miracles that happened in the Battle of Badr
Section: 141
In the last session, we had discussed in detailed about the death of Abu Jahl in
the battle field that happened due to the valiant attack by two young
companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Breaking of the sword of Akaasha bin Mohsin: Two strange incidents
happened here, one of them happened with Hazrat Akasha bin Mohsen (RA),
that while fighting his sword broke down & then he came in the blessed court
of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and asked how I can fight now, my sword
broke while fighting. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) picked up a piece of wood
and said to fight with it. As soon as he took that wood in his hand, it became a
shining sword and he named it Awn. From then onwards, he used to keep
always keep it with him and he would not only fight in this Jihad until the
Muslims were victorious. Rather, he fought bravely in every battle until he
was martyred while fighting in the Battle of Fitnah at the hands of murtad
(apostate) Talha bin Khuwayld al- Sadi. These were the names of those to
whom the Holy Prophet had given the good news of Jannah (heaven) in
addition to those ten blessed companions. This incident is such that the Holy
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) once said that there will be fourteen thousand
people in my Ummah whose faces will shine like the moon and they will be the
first to go to heaven.
Hazrat Akaasha bin Mohsin (RA) on this moment stood up & requested with
Prophet (PBUH) that please pray for me so that my name is also included in
them? The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) prayed and gave them the good news
that Allah has included you among them. At the same time, another
companion stood up and he also requested, but Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
replied that at this time, Hazrat Akasha bin Mohsen has won the game & now
supplications has been held or get cold. It happened exactly as in the Ashra
Mubashra (the blessed ten companions), they were first nine and the tenth
Hazrat Saeed (RA) joined on the supplication of the Holy Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH).
Another incident of the same type, which was written by Ibn Kathir (RA) but
not by Ibn Hisham (RA), is about another companion, he was Hazrat Salama
bin Harish (RA), that a sword like a piece of wood broke, and the Holy Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) gave a piece of wood and said, go fight with him. After
this sword came into Hazrat Salma's hands, it became a sticky sword, and then
it never left is hands till he was martyred while fighting at the place of Jasde-
Abu Obadiah. Coming here, the secret of this claim was revealed that one of
his hands was cut off, which was hanging with his body, but despite this, he
was martyred while fighting. Abu Jahl and his companions had not even
recovered from this onslaught when the other brother struck Abu Jahl and he
was killed.
