Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) conducted a raid at the house of former president Zardari’s close aide Anwar Majeed in Defence Housing Authority Phase 8 area, in the early hours of Sunday.

Huge cache of arms were recovered hidden inside the house, according to LEA officials.

Two security guards present at the residence were also taken into custody.

Raids were also conducted earlier this week at two of his offices, hours before the return of Asif Ali Zardari to Pakistan.

Earlier, LEAs also conducted another targeted search operation in the area of Drigh Road.

According to LEA officials, heavy arms and ammunition including submachine guns and rifles were recovered from the targeted operation. The arms had been hidden in the ground.

The operation was conducted on the identification of an arrested terrorist, Naveed Pathan.

Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Friday afternoon released information regarding raids conducted at offices located on I.I. Chundrigar Road and near the hockey stadium. The offices reportedly belong to a close aide of Asif Ali Zardari.

Geo News, citing Rangers sources, reported that the offices belong to a company owned by Anwar Majeed, who is a close associate of former President Asif Ali Zardari.

According to the statement issued by the Rangers PRO, the raids were conducted on verified reports regarding the presence of illegal arms and ammunition and involvement of arrested suspects in facilitating miscreants.
