The brotherhood between Muhajirs & Ansars at Madinah Al Munawwara
Chapter (95)
During last section we discussed the construction of Masjid Nabawi got completed & all the other family members of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) reached Madinah Al Munawwara. By this time Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has shifted with his family members to the humble abode that was constructd by the side of Masjid Nabawi. Now let us move to that chapter of history which was never implemented by anyone else. The Muslim like us in today’s time will not able to reflect this behavior, what was done by their ancestors during early days of Islam. The holy Quran is eulogizing their behavior like this, “Before they were fierce enemies of each other but Islam mixes them like a sugar & milk.” That’s why Almighty Allah has repeatedly asked, does anyone focus on the holy Quran. Did we ever try to compare our present values with the great personalities of our past? From here I think our readers can get the idea on which aspect I was talking. Yes today we are focusing on the brotherhood that created by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) between the Muhajirs & Ansars at Madinah Al Munawwara. This was one of the biggest achievements in those days when Arab tribes used to fight with each other for centuries. Then the history witnessed the hospitality & affection given by Ansars towards Muhajirs. They not only showered their affection with the new immigrants from Makkah but also gave them share from their lands & properties. Even some of them who had two wives offered to give one of those to their Muhajir brothers. But this condition was not accepted by Muhajirs. Let me clarify one point here, may be the organizations of female rights will criticize on this issue. This awareness among the western societies is a recent phenomenon. We could say like it was before hundred or two hundred years when we start talking on female rights. But Islamic Laws has taken the care of female rights from last fourteen hundred years. This was the time when complete Quran didn’t come up. The rights of the females was among one of the first thing that established by the Islam in those days. Otherwise before the arrival of Islam, the females were considered like the part of personal property. They were treated in a harsh manner. Polygamy was widely practiced & there were no fixed numbers. It was Islamic laws that fixed the numbers of the wives & also articulated about their protection, alumni & share in the inheritance for the daughters. If we review Torah, we can find the number of the wives attributed to Hazrat Daud (David) (PBUH) were ninety nine. Now let’s come back to our topic of Ansars & Muhajirs. The Muhajirs (immigrants from Makkah) were in the severe crisis at that time. They don’t have a bread to eat & shelter for the living. The issue of marriage was big affair in Arab society in those days & even today. As without paying Maher, the marriage was not possible. So Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) tried his best to break the evils of the society & establish the laws of Islam that promotes brotherhood.
