Ijaz Hussain, Former Tapes Librarian, Radio Pakistan, Lahore died

Ijaz Hussain, Former Tapes Librarian, Radio Pakistan, Lahore died at 12 mid night on 9th February of a severe heart attack. He was a committed and devoted employee of department. He retired about 12 years ago but broadcasting and his department did not remain away from him.

He was In charge of about 5000 thousand tapes and each spool tape contained 06 items, so if we multiply the items in total, are massive. After his retirement, he was offered a contract for about five years simply and judiciously there was no body as his substitute.

He was on a sensitive job of taking care of tapes and discs of high value. He kept himself available for his department at any time and any hours of the day. Keeping the importance of his work he reached the office with out calling him in the odd hours. Sensing the changes in country by natural catastrophe, on the event of sad demise of any major personality, he always reached to make changes in the schedule programmes.

He kept a set of tapes for programmes to be broadcast during Muharram and Eid Milad un nabi.
He had a remarkable memory of recording and on his tips, he had the items and number of tapes. He remained associated with Radio Pakistan, Lahore more than 48 years.

He worked with 20 Controllers/ Station Directors like, Izhar Kazmi, Abdul Hameed Azmi، Shams ul din Butt,Syed Saleem Gillani, Ch Bashir ,Akram Chaudhary, Khalid Asghar, Faqir Sahar, Sattar Syed, Sardar Ali, Sajjad Hussain and Khalid Waqar and others.

He was a great helping hands to the programme producers. He has immense programme sense. When, he died a day ago, there was no person to handle and take care of massive tapes library.
