Britain´s parliament was temporarily evacuated on Monday after a fire alarm but people have begun re-entering the building, a Reuters reporter said.
The London Fire Brigade said it had not been called out after the fire alarm sounded.
The 187-year-old building is due for major repairs which could cost up to £4billion.
Politicians have warned the building is so unsafe it could suffer a “sudden, catastrophic failure”.
However, the refurbishment has been held up by ministers refusing to select a proposal for what would happen to MPs while the work happens.
Last year a committee of MPs and peers put forward the most extreme proposal which would see a “full decant”, with the Commons and Lords moving out for six years.
