Renowned jurist SM Zafar passes away

Former federal minister and renowned jurist Syed Muhammad (SM) Zafar passed away.

The family of SM Zafar has confirmed his death, the deceased was the father of renowned jurist Senator Ali Zafar.

According to the family, SM Zafar was ill for a long time.

Born on December 6, 1930 in Rangoon, Burma, Senior Advocate and former Law Minister SM Zafar was also the author of several books.

Apart from this, he also wrote articles on national and international issues in domestic and foreign journals.

SM Zafar was the Law Minister of Pakistan during the Indo-Pak war of 1965. On September 19, 1965, in the United Nations Security Council, he made the ceasefire resolution conditional on the resolution of the Kashmir issue. SM Zafar also addressed the United Nations Human Rights Commission.

SM Zafar became the Union Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs in the Ayub cabinet at the age of 35. Having won many important national and international cases, he was also a member of the Senate from 2003 to 2012.
