IoK police officer suspended for allegedly passing on information to Pakistan

A senior officer of the Indian Occupied Kashmir Armed Police was suspended for allegedly passing on information about deployment of security forces to a Pakistani intelligence officer posing as an Army officer, Indian media reported.

The police officer, Inspector Tanveer Ahmad, was reportedly tricked into sharing information on deployment of security forces in various parts of the valley with an intelligence officer posing as ‘Major Sanjeev’.

After the matter came to light Inspector Tanveer was suspended and an investigation ordered. According to a senior officer, preliminary investigation showed that Ahmad’s involvement was “unintentional”.
