While the rest of the world rang in the new year with fireworks and celebrations, Palestinians in Gaza were fleeing for their lives and trying to find somewhere to hide.
The Gaza Strip’s core region, designated a safe zone for Palestinians to evacuate to, has been repeatedly pounded throughout the night with five fatalities reported.
Almost 85% of the people are being relocated, the majority of whom are living in tents in Rafah.
Individuals in Rafah are standing in line for hours to get food and necessities; the number of facilities is much lower than the number of individuals in need of assistance.
The amount of food is a trickle – a small amount of rice, a small amount of bread. There are reports of people here having just one meal a day. But sometimes they go for one or two days without any food.
