Chapter (71)
The second phase of the Miraj
A journey from Baitul Muqaddas to the next world
During the last section we were discussing the early phase of the journey of Miraj. We reached up to the point that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) narrated the complete incident to Umm Hani & then he went outside. Umm Hani narrated that I requested Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that don’t discuss this incident outside with the people. They will not accept it as a truth. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) replied I will discuss the event among the masses. On listening this, I send one of my slave girl outside in apprehension so that if anything bad happened, she will inform me immediately. Then what happened has been discussed in detail in previous section. As we cited before that this narrative is equivalent or continuation of Ibn Ishaq. If we just add one of string in this chain of narration then the complete issue will get solved. This was Tahajjud prayer where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) didn’t mention that where he offered this prayer. Hadith is like that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said to Hazrat Umm Hani that I prayed Isha with you & then Fajr prayer with you. He didn’t mention about the Tahajjud prayer as we know Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) didn’t leave any of his Tahajjud prayers. And the reason was that this special prayer is a secret between Almighty Allah & his bondsmen. If Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) talk about this prayer on that night then it will became Sunnah for the coming Muslims & this will go against the will of Almighty Allah. Then this would not be a case as we saw today that many people who offered this late night prayers (Tahajjud) regularly but they didn’t showed it to anyone.
This can be further testified by this point that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) never talk about his personal worships. We will try to understand this hadith in this way that he offered his Isha prayers in night at Hazrat Umm Hani’s house & then he went to Kaaba. He prayed his Tahajjud in the hateem of Kaaba. After this he was doing some rest in hateem. And at this moment, the journey of Miraj was started. Then he offered his morning (Fajr) prayers with the family of Hazrat Umm Hani (RA). This point also get clarified that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) never used to talk about his personal supplications. That’s why this part has not been mentioned in hadith. That’s why this confusion has been created. There is one more interesting point to be discussed here. As many scholars of Hadith has mentioned that first Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) offered his Isha prayers at Baitul Muqaddas, & then he lead the congregational prayers of all the Prophets (Peace be Upon them) in Baitul Muqaddas during the dawn (Fajr) prayers.
