Translation of Dr. Shams Jilani “Roshni Hira Say” (The light from Cave of Hira) by Dr. Rehan Asad
Chapter (74)
During last section we ended our article on the journey of Miraj at the point where Archangel Gabriel showed Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) the father of mankind, Hazrat Adam (PBUH). The human souls were visiting him. Then Prophet (PBUH) said that I saw a group of people whom lips were like the camels. The balls of the fire were kept on their hands. When they entered these fireballs in their mouths, they exited from their backs. When Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) asked Hazrat Gabriel regarding this group of people, he replied these are the group of tyrant who used to acquire the assets of tyrants deliberately. Then Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) saw the group of the people whose backs were completely different & deformed in shape. Their backs used to serve as the bridge for the descendants of Pharaoh’s. When Pharaoh’s descendants were brought to the hell, they have to pass on their backs. When Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) inquired about them from Gabriel (PBUH), he replied these are the group of the people who used to take the interest in the worldly life. Then Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, I saw the group of the people who were sitting in the front of the meat. On one side, there was a healthy & fatty meat whiles other side, they have lean & decayed meat. Instead of having healthy one, they all are eating rotten meat. When I asked Gabriel about these people, they said, these are the group of the people are those left the females who were permissible for them. They all went in relationship with those who were not permissible for them. Then I saw the group of the ladies who were in the state of sorrow. Then I asked Gabriel about these ladies, he replied, these are the group of the ladies who gave affiliated the illegitimate child to their males. A hadith has been narrated by Ibn Ishaq in this context that came from Jafar bin Umar & Qasim bin Muhammad who listened from Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that the wrath of Allah is on those who entered the illegitimate child in their families. Then from this illegal child, they made the claim on the wealth of those families. A hadith came from Hazrat Abu Saad Khudri (RA) that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, the Gabriel then took me to the second level where I saw Ibn Maryam (PBUH) & his maternal cousin, Hazrat Yahya bin Zakaria. Then I went to the third level of skies where I met Hazrat Yusuf bin Yaqub (PBUH). Then he took me to the fourth sky, where I met Hazrat Idris (PBUH) & on fifth sky, I met Hazrat Haroon bin Imran (RA). Then he took me to the sixth sky where I met Hazrat Musa bin Imran (RA). Then he took me to the seventh sky where I saw an aged person was sitting on “Bait-Al- Mamoor”. It’s a place where each day seventy thousand angels use to visit & their turn never came again till the dooms day. This man was looking like Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH). And also I saw a small girl child, when I asked Gabriel about this; he told that this is the daughter of Zaid Bin Harith. After journeying all these levels of the skies, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was left to the final level where he met his creator, the Almighty Allah. It was here that fifty prayers were made compulsory for the Muslims. The narration came like this that while Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was coming back, he met Hazrat Musa bin Imran (PBUH). He inquired about the number of the prayers made compulsory. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that it’s fifty. On this Hazrat Musa (PBUH) said that you know it will be very difficult for your community (Ummah) to offer fifty prayers. Please go back & request Almighty Allah for some relaxations. On hearing this Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) went back & request with his Lord. The Almighty Allah listened to the request & finally made five prayers compulsory that were equivalent in reward for fifty prayers.
