Chapter (77)
The return from Taif & in refuge of Moattam Bin Adi
During last section we discussed that the Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH) visited the nearby city of Taif. During this visit, they not
only treated Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) with harsh manner
but also throw stones on him. The act of stoning was so severe
that it’s heavily injured Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) & his shoes
got filled with blood. In this context, there has been a narrative
that came from Hazrat Aisha (RA). It’s like that, O, Aisha, didn’t
you know about that incident when your community (Qureysh)
inflicted such a heavy Wretchedness that was even severe than
the day of Ahad. Hazrt Aisha (RA) asked, O Prophet of Allah,
what was that day. On this Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) replied,
it was the day when I visited the Taif to deliver the message of
Islam & I asked their help against the polytheist of Makkah. But
I didn’t receive anything from them other than stoning. I was
standing in one of the corners & the people of Taif were
throwing stones on me. Even the Qureysh of Makkah were also
present them. Suddenly I saw a cloud came just above my head
in the harsh sunny day. Then I heard a voice from the sky, that
Almighty Allah has witness the act of your people & also
accepted your supplication. The Almighty Allah has send Malik
an angel to you. Please ask whatever support you are
expecting from him. This voice was of Archangel Gabriel. Then
this angel asked Prophet Muhamamd (PBUH), what did you
want me to do these tyrants? If you would say then I can crush
these people between the two mountains. Then Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) told to this angel that I had made
supplication from Almighty Allah & I expect that the
descendants of these people will turn toward Allah by accepting
Islam. This hadith has been narrated in Muslim. Ibn Ishaq (RA)
further added that while Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was
returning from Taif, he stayed in neighborhood of Moattam Bin
Adi. At this moment the atrocities from the side of the polytheist
was further increased. Some more details are present in
“Maghazi” that cited in following words. When Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) was returning from Taif, first he went to
Ariqat & here he asked Aqnas bin Shariq to stay there.
Unfortunate enough this guy, he rejected the request of Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) on the basis that he is follower of Qureysh
so how he can give him refuge. Then Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH) went to Suhail bin Amru, he rejected the request of
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on the basis that my tribe will not
accept the stay of any other tribe in his neighborhood.
