An anti-terrorism court of Islamabad Friday approved the Federal Investigation Agency’s request to begin proceedings to declare Iftikhar Hussain, Muhammad Anwar and Kashif Khan Kamran fugitives in Imran Farooq murder case.
The ATC, prior to this on December 2, 2016, had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for all the three accused in the case.
The FIA recently requested the court to begin proceedings to declare the three accused proclaimed offenders in the case, which was approved by ATC Judge Syed Kausar Abbas Zaidi.
After the court approval, the FIA will affix notices on the residences of Iftikhar Hussain, Muhammad Anwar and Kashif Khan Kamran and on public places as well.
If the accused fail to surrender them before the given deadline, then proceedings will be held to get them declared absconders by the ATC.
Geo News has learnt that after being declared fugitive red notices will be issued by authorities to bring the accused back to country.
Farooq, 50, a founding member of the MQM, was stabbed and beaten to death in Edgware, northwest London, as he returned home from work on September 16, 2010.
He was twice elected a Member of Parliament in Pakistan, but went into hiding in 1992 when the government ordered a military crackdown against party activists in Karachi.
He later claimed asylum in Britain in 1999.
