Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Monday there was “major progress” in talks with the United States.
“Pakistani and Qatari mediation has delivered major progress to end Lebanon War,” Araghchi posted on X.
Building on the MoU, the parties have agreed to the establishment of a High Level Committee, which will provide political oversight on the mediation.Chief negotiators will report regularly to the High Level Committee and lead working groups focused on nuclear, sanctions, and a monitoring and dispute resolution group to ensure the effective implementation of the MoU, and on other matters.The High Level Committee has agreed upon a roadmap towards reaching a final deal within 60 days, laying the foundation for the immediate commencement of further technical talks.In addition, a communication line between the parties has been formed to avoid incidents and miscommunication with the aim of safe passage for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz
The joint statement from the mediators says the US and Iran “agreed on the creation of a de-confliction cell, between the parties, the Lebanese Republic and facilitated by the Mediators, to ensure the adherence of the termination of military operations in Lebanon as per the MoU”.

The Iranian delegation on Sunday left the venue of talks with the United States seeking to permanently end the Middle East war, after President Donald Trump threatened to strike the Islamic republic.

The technical-level talks mediated by Pakistan between delegations from the United States and Iran have begun in Switzerland
The talks, dubbed the ‘Lake Lucerne Summit’, are a follow-up to the recently signed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tehran and Washington.
US Vice President JD Vance on Sunday said President Donald Trump has asked to turn over “a new leaf” to transform the US relationship with Iran and that the technical talks that are starting in Switzerland would allow for both sides to sit together and work to resolve issues.
US Vice President JD Vance has said that significant progress has been made over the past few hours, while stressing the need for positive dialogue on key issues. He also said that he expects additional progress in the coming hours.
Speaking on recent developments, Vance praised the roles played by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, describing their contributions as commendable.
He also described Field Marshal Munir as an excellent military commander.
Vance said Pakistan’s role had been appreciated around the world and expressed a desire to build on the current momentum in the future.
The US vice president said Washington wanted Iran to play a positive role in efforts for peace, while adding that peace in the Middle East remained a priority.
He also voiced concern over the situation in Lebanon and said US President Donald Trump was working to reduce tensions in the country.
Referring to Iran, Vance said the country had been a source of regional instability, adding that positive discussions were needed on the issues at hand.
