In the wake of a possible arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, party workers and supporters took to the streets in various cities across the country for protests.
Protesters blocked roads, suspended traffic, burnt tyres and raised slogans against the government. Clashes were also reported in several areas.
However, the police force also managed to control the protests at some locations and disperse the protesters.
Lahore
In Lahore, a heavy load of traffic was reported on major highways, due to which commuters faced difficulties. Angry PTI workers protested at Liberty Chowk, and surrounded a police van.
Party supporters, armed with wooden clubs, blocked The Mall road by lighting a fire.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Home Department has deployed Rangers in Lahore for 10 days to control the law and order situation.
As per the notification of the deployment, the force will remain in the city from March 13 to 23.
Around midnight, PTI activists armed with wooden clubs attacked a Rangers vehicle on the Canal Road at The Mall intersection.
Windowpanes of the Rangers vehicle were also smashed in the attack, while some of the protesters pelted the vehicle with stones.
Agitated PTI workers continued pelting Rangers personnel with stones, as the force fired tear gas to disperse the protesters.
Additional Rangers personnel have been deployed on The Mall.
