Former SSP Malir on Monday has refused to appear before any committee formed to probe the alleged encounter of Naqeebullah Mehsud in Karachi.

While giving reason behind his negation, Anwar says, “Why should I appear before such committees where I have no hope of receiving any justice.”

The sacked SSP maintained that a full-fledge propaganda is being done against him on media. Rao Anwar asserted that he neither caught anyone nor gave any order to do such thing.

“A few days back a police encounter occurred at Shahrah-e-Faisal on which the IG announced prize money of Rs2 lac. However; the incident turned out to be wrong afterwards. Does this mean that the IG is involved in the incident?” he questioned.

Anwar has accused the authorities of conducting a biased probe against him.

The ex-SP Malir was summoned by the National Assembly Standing Committee on Human Rights today. He was earlier called upon by DIG East but he neither replied nor appeared before him. The investigating committee also tried to contact Anwar but all in vain as he apparently seemed to have gone ‘underground’.
