Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) central working committee will meet in Lahore today (Tuesday) to elect party’s acting president after Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification as party head upon Supreme Court verdict that a person disqualified under Article 62 and 63 cannot serve as the head of a political party.

Political analysts are of the view that Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif will be elected as acting president of the party as he is considered the most competent and appropriate person for the slot given his political acumen and performance in Punjab province.

However, the final decision will be taken by 125-member central working committee which will meet in Lahore today. According to the PML-N s constitution, a new president must be elected within 40 days.
