Departure of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) towards Uhud

Section 169

In this regard, all historians agree that the Prophet's (PBUH) opinion was to
come out and fight from the beginning. Which is evident from this honorable
statement as written by Ibn Ishaq (RA): "If your opinion is that we should stay
in Madinah and allow the Qureysh to stay where they have camped, then this
is right. It will not happen, because they have encamped in the wrong place."
But for one thing, those people who did not participate in the battle of Badr
were very enthusiastic in this matter. There was also the shame of fighting
inside another city that the hypocrites would say to them. And this thing was
also evident from the fear of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that he
said that the place where Qureysh has camped is not suitable for a defensive
war. Everyone has written it but no one has told that what was the danger
that the vision of Holy Prophet (PBUH) was feeling, what was that danger? All
the historians are silent on this even Imam Bukhari (RA) has written in great

detail about this campaign. But they did not shed any light on it either.
However, when it was decided by majority opinion to go out of Madinah and
fight, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) went to female quarters and
dressed his armor and came back. Coincidentally, Hazrat Malik bin Amr (RA),
one of the Ansars of Bani Najjar, had passed away. After completing his
funeral prayer, he ordered the Mujahideen to leave for Uhud. At this stage, it is
written in reference to Ibn Ishaq (RA) that, the people realized that they had
troubled the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), so the Companions said: O
Messenger of Allah (SAW), we do not want to bother you, you are here, and
please have a seat. We go to fight the enemy. So the Holy Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH) said that it doesn’t suit the Messenger (PBUH) to take off his armor
without fighting after wearing it.

It is not clear if the enemy agrees to peace or escapes. (Allah is all-Knowing).
However, everyone agrees that the opinion of Raees Al-ul-Mana Faqeen
Abdullah bin Abi Salul was against going out and fighting from the beginning.
And he kept emphasizing that fighting should be done while staying in
Madinah. What was the secret behind it, Allah and the Messenger (PBUH)
know better. The reason for this was either his illusion, as he expressed to the
Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that until today whenever there was a war

and they stayed in Medina and defended, they were always victorious.
Whenever they went out to fight, they were defeated. Obviously, this was
superstitious preoccupation, which was completely against the spirit of Islam
and the preacher of Islam (PBUH) who they believed in. It could not be
expected from the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). However, the intention
here was to make the difference between hypocrite and the non-hypocrite &
that was accomplished by moving forward. It was also intended to show from
the side of Allah that if disobedience should be done even if the Prophet
(PBUH) is present or not among you, the nation cannot escape punishment
and this is not the first time. That Hazrat Musa (PBUH) was present among
them; they disobeyed him and suffered punishment. Then even after him
many times due to the disobedience of Allah, his people continued to suffer
punishment. This proved that the presence of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
does not make a difference in the punishment, if the Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH) is disobeyed; it was exemplified by the presence of Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) in the Battle of Uhud and of Moses (PBUH) in the desert
of Sinai.
