Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser said his party had decided to raise the issue of the Gilgit-Baltistan elections in the National Assembly, alleging that PTI’s mandate had been taken away through unfair means.
Addressing a press conference, Qaiser thanked the people of Gilgit-Baltistan for supporting PTI founder Imran Khan and claimed that, according to the party’s assessment, PTI had won up to 20 seats in the elections.
He alleged that tactics similar to those used during the February 8 general elections were employed against PTI in Gilgit-Baltistan, resulting in what he described as the party’s mandate being “snatched.”
“The case of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan will be fought in the National Assembly,” Qaiser said, adding that PTI would raise the issue on the floor of the House.
The PTI leader criticised the government’s policies, claiming that the current system of governance was unsustainable and had created instability across the country.
He said no sector of society remained unaffected by the prevailing situation and claimed that public frustration had reached a critical level.
Qaiser said PTI would continue to act as the voice of the people and would pursue what he described as the rights of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan through parliamentary and democratic means.
The government and election authorities have not yet responded to Qaiser’s allegations.
