The National Broadcaasting House building was designed to work as the hub of all radio activities linking four provincial capitals and other large stations. Also linked with parliament, FO, presidency, parade ground for live broadcast. Two years ago Japan provided 500 KHz MW digital transmitter and also upgraded present infrastructure. MW networks needs huge installations, space and infrastructure. FM station can be run from a small building, but not the MW. AIR, voa, vog, cri, Radio Tehran, Kabul, Mascow, all broadcasting on MW, with very strong signals. We have only one working digital MW transmitter at Ibd. Shifting sensitive equipment and installations needs millions of rupees and most importantly, most of equipment will be perished while shifting. The idea to establish media university in NBH, is ridiculous as the market has already been saturated with thousands of graduates yearly. In short, State institutions like Radio Pakistan are not for sale. All over the world, every state media organization is supported by the concerned governments to fulfil the information needs of the masses and to promote government and country abroad. VOA, AIR, CRI, PTV, BBC, and other such organizations are being run purely on government funding. These organizations are not for sale, nor one expects that they will earn money for running the organization. To provide sufficient financial resources to these state institutions are solely responsibility of the government. I appeal to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Finance Minister Asad Umer, Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmud Qureshi, Mr. Shafqat Mehmud and Dr.Sherin Mazari, to review the geo-political situation around Pakistan, review the monitoring reports of AIR, VOA, Radio Tehran, Radio Kabul and also AIR plan to install more transmitters along Pakistani border and then decide whether the proposal of Federal Minister for Information Fawad Ch regarding leasing out the Radio Pakistan Islamabad building and shifting PBC Islamabad and ten other units to tiny PBA is a viable one or otherwise ?????–
