An exchange of fire between police and terrorists in Swabi left one terrorist dead, while another blew himself up late on Saturday night, officials said.

The terrorists targeted a police mobile in Swabi’s Minai area late on Saturday and fled away. They were chased down and the ensuing exchange of fire left one of the perpetrators dead.

Another terrorist blew himself up during the gunbattle, while one of their accomplice managed to get away, told a senior police official. The blast resulted in a fire inside a shop in which the miscreants had taken refuge.

Police also freed four people, including a minor, who were taken hostage by the terrorists.

One policeman was martyred and another wounded in the late-night shootout.

Police also found a Kalashnikov, two hand grenades and ammunition scattered around the deceased.
