Translation of Dr. Shams Jilani “Roshni Hira Say”
Umair bin Wahab came with the intention of murder and accepted Islam
Section: 157
During last section, we had covered that Umar bin Wahab came to Madinah with the intention of the killing Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). We ended up to the point when he already reached in the room of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) & dialogues were going between them. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) asked why this sword is around the neck? He said, May Allah destroy these swords, they will not be of any use to us. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said again, “Tell me the truth why you have come here?” He said, “I have not come for any other purpose than this.” Then the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,
بل قعدت انت و صفوان بن امیہ فی الحجر نذکر تما اصحاب القليب من قريش ثم قلت لو لا دین علی و عیال عندى لخرجت حتی اقتل محمد فتحمل لک صفوان بدینک و عیالک علی ان تقتلني له والله حائل بینک و بین
In our translation: The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said why not? You were sitting in the room with Safwan bin Umayyah and you mentioned the people lying in the pit of Quraish. After that you said, “If I had not been obliged and had no children, I would have gone out to kill Muhammad, and Safwan bin Umayyah took upon himself the burden of your debt and your children, on this condition.” You kill me for that, but Allah is the fulfillment of this intention of mine and yours, you cannot fulfill this intention of yours”. Umair said, I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. Indeed, we used to believe that this was a lie until today, when you used to present the news of the sky, which used to be revealed to you in the form of revelation. There was no one else except me and Safwan. Therefore, in name of the God! I know that no one was aware of this news except Allah. So praise to Allah who showed me the path of Islam and brought me to the back in this way. Then he recited the kalama in a regular manner, then the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said to the Companions (RA): Teach your brother and read the Qur’an to him and release his prisoner for his sake. And the person who was disappointed with his own life, disappointed with the mercy of the Prophet ﷺ, & Almighty Allah. The Almighty Allah filled him with happiness. On the other hand, Safwan was telling each other that I am going to give you good news very soon. So he said wait, you will know soon, but nature was laughing at him. After some time, when he had equipped himself with the teachings of Islam, one day he said that to the Prophet ﷺ that before I tried to extinguish the light of Allah and those who follow the religion of Allah Almighty. Those who were following the footsteps of Islam, I was very difficult for them. Now I just want to compensate for my previous deeds. Now please allow me to go back to Makkah and call them towards the message of Allah and Rasulullah ﷺ and try to spread the religion so that Allah may bring them to the right path. Finally, the Prophet ﷺ allowed them to return to Makkah and he left for Makkah. Safwan used to sit on the road coming from Madinah waiting for good news and the caravan passing by would be eager to hear the news he wanted. Finally, one day his intention came true and a traveler was coming straight from Madinah, he met him and he asked him with great enthusiasm, “Do you have any new news?” He said that a person Umayr bin Wahab went to kill the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and these incidents happened to him and he immediately accepted Islam. Hearing this, he swore that he would never speak to him or benefit him. After that Umair went to Makkah and invited him for Islam. Just as he was fiercely opposed to Islam earlier, he has now become fiercely engaged in supporting it. And many people have been blessed with Islam on their hands, Allahu Akbar! He does whatever Almighty Allah wishes.
