Section 189
The incident of Bir (Well) of Moanna & campaign of Bani Nazar
During last section we reached up to the point that, the Holy Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) sent 40 companions, according to some traditions, 70
companions under the leadership of Hazrat Munzar (RA) bin Amr. Let’s
continue the campaign of Bani Nazar. Regarding the number of the
companions in this campaign, a great majority of the historians agree that
their number was forty when they reached at well of Mauna, they sent Haram
bin Mulhan (RA) as a messenger to Amir bin Tufail. He didn't even bother to
read the message sent by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and killed the
messenger by saying, "Why did you came when we didn’t allow you to visit
us!" Then the tribe of Abu Al-Bara began to call for help to Banu Amir, but that
tribe refused to help saying that Abul Al-Bara had sheltered them. As
neighbors, they are also under your protection, so how can you and we take
up the sword? Apart from that, he also said that Banu Nazr is the ally of Ahl
Yathrab and they are also our ally, so we cannot raise a sword against Ahl
Yathrab, but the tribe of Banu Salim came out on his voice. And he responded
to his voice, so all of them were martyred fighting except one, his name was
Ka'b bin Zayd, whom he left as dead. At the same time, two other Companions
came who had gone somewhere due to some necessity. Their name was
Hazrat Amru bin Ummaya (RA) & Hazrat Manzar bin Muhammad (RA). So,
they both discussed what should be done now. Hazrat Amr (RA) replied that it
is better that we go back to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and
narrate this incident. But Hazrat Manzar (RA) bin Muhammad said, "I cannot
go to the place where Munzar (RA) bin Amr was killed to save my life."
So he challenged those people who were still there & got martyred while
fighting." They arrested Hazrat Amr bin Umayyah (RA), but when he was told
that these tribes were in sight, he was released because of some kinship. He
was freed by his mother, who for some reason wanted to free a slave, so he
left for Madinah. According to some traditions, he met two men of Banu Amir
on the way, whom he killed as revenge. When they reached Madinah, the Holy
Prophet (PBUH) was very sad and prayed for the forgiveness of those people
for a month.
