Translation of Dr. Shams Jilani “Roshni Hira Say”
Section 172
Muslims in battlefield & martyrdom of Hazrat Hamza (RA)

During the last section, we reached up to the point where initial skirmishes of
this historic battle were started.

Martyrdom of Hazrat Hamzah (R.A.) He was also engaged in fighting in the
same way wiping out one by one from the enemy lines until he put to death
one of the most powerful people of the infidels, Artata bin Abd Sharjeel. He
was from Bani Uldar and was the standard bearer of Azim. Then he killed
Saba' bin Abd al-Uzza Bishani, after that he challenged Saba' bin Uzza al-Azmi.
Then Ibn Ishaq (RA) narrates in the words of Wahshi slave himself that he
said, "When I saw Hazrat Hamza, (RA), the brave men of Quraish are being
killed and they are not stopping anyone, so I decided to try my strategy, but I
saw that Saba' bin Azmi came in front of them whom they had challenged. But

his strike got missed, so I got a chance and at that moment I threw my
weapon, which pierced his navel, and he rushed towards me.

But due to wounds, he appeared to be tired and fell to the ground. I left them
in the same state until he was martyred and I stood aside. Because I was now
free and I had no connection with both parties. Next, in the mouth of Zamri
(R.A.) Ibn Khayan, he has narrated the whole incident that he went on a
journey with Ubaidullah bin Adi. It was the time of Muawiya. When we passed
through Homs, we thought that we would meet that Abyssinian slave, Wahshi
ibn Harb who killed Hazrat Hamza (RA). So we tracked him down and reached
him. He is sitting bent like a bow in front of his house. He was very old at that
time. When we greeted him, he recognized Ubaidullah (R.A.) bin Adi and
asked if you are the son of Adi bin Khayar, and when he replied in the
affirmative, he said, "I recognized you from your feet as soon as I saw you."
you stood up By Allah, I did not see you when I picked you up & gave in the
arms of your mother. I only saw your feet hanging out of the clothes.
Ubaidullah says that we have stated our purpose and goal that we have come
to hear from you the story of the killing of Hazrat Hamza (RA). He said that I
will listen to you in the same way as I listened to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
The subsequent events are all the same as we have described earlier. The

addition is that he says that I went back to Makkah with Quraysh. But when
Holy Prophet (PBUH) also conquered Makkah, Makkah also became unsafe for
me, so I went to Taif and stayed there for some time, but when the delegation
of the people of Taif also went to Makkah to serve Holy Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH). I felt worried. At that time, I did not understand anything about
where I should go.
