Translation of Dr. Shams Jilani “Roshni Hira Say”
Section: 116
The battles and struggles of Second Hijra
In previous section, we were discussing the battle of Buwat.
Let’s continue from the point of view that has been
presented by Imam Ahmad who narrated this from the chain
of various authentic sources. He said, while returning from
battle of Ashira, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was returning
from the site of Jabinaa where almost all the resident
collectively accepted Islam by preaching’s. But other
historians didn’t talk about that. While returning back to
Madinah Al Munawwara, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) left
one battalion as watch guard for the enemies. Their sole
responsibility was to keep an eye on the moving caravans.
Those soldiers who stayed back has a point of contention
regarding the booty if there will be any skirmishes or
engagement with enemies. Some of them hold a viewpoint
that whatever will capture by an individual during the war, it
will remain with him. As all the fighting’s get halted in the
month of Ramadan so this battalion returned back to Medina
Al Munawwara. So they decided to seek guidance from
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on the issue of war booty.
When the envoy of this battalion reached the noble court,
the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stood up in anger on
sighting him. He (PBUH) asked, didn’t I appoint a leader
among. Why you head didn’t give a nod of acceptance to
your leader? If you are following the orders of your leader,
then why the confusion has been raised. It was compulsory
on all you to obey the orders of your leader. Then Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) sent Hazrat Abdullah bin Jash Asadi
(RA) who was also considered by Islamic historians as the
first commander or the leader in Islam. But according to
Islamic historian Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn Husayn al-Bayhaqi (
RA) who has recorded from from Yahya Abi Zahid &
Mujahid, that one section used to say that in month of Haram
(Sacred Months) as per Arab traditions, all the violence &
war has been prohibited that’s why there will be no attack.
The second section said that the polytheist of Qureysh
Makkah left only in this month & they try to manipulate
these traditions as per their convenience so we need to
defend ourselves. But two prominent historians, Ibn Ishaq
(RA) & Al Waqidi (RA) mentioned the names of Ubaid Bin
Harith (RA) & Hamza Bin Mutalib (RA) as the leaders of this
skirmish. May Almighty Allah Knows better. As Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) at this point of time was in Badar in the
search of Jafar Fahri so Ibn Kathir has mentioned its name as
First expedition of Badar. Ibn Ishaq (RA) has written that
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) arranged one battalion after
the first expedition of Badar under the leadership of Hazrat
Abdullah bin Jash Asadi (RA). This troop includes Hazrat Abu
Hudaifaa (RA), Hazrat Akasha Bin Mohsin (RA), Hazrat
Utbah bin Ghazwan (RA), Hazrat Saad bin Abi Waqas Zahri
(RA), Hazrat Amir Bin Rabiaah (RA), Hazrat Waqid bin
Abdullah (RA) , Hazrat Khalid Bin Bakeer (RA), & Hazrat
Saad bin Biyadh Fahri (RA) were some of the companions
who were the part of this troop.
