Dear Programmers, the just concluded BOD meeting has only endorsed the temporary relief measures for the employees and the Program wing remained standing alone on loosing end. After getting the authentic detail of decisions, we will contest every wrong move harmful to our institution.

1: We are not against the right of earning bread & butter by contractual staff, we are only advocting that the program budget must not be spent other than program activity. The people hired on contract basis while bypassing the normal legal process of recruitment should be given a fair chance of test and interview against the permanent posts or may be payed from salery head.

2: The argument against the sick units is also misplaced, when we don’t have the money for program activity then how a station could satiate the listening appetite of people. Give us resoureces or permission to generate the sources of income, we will make this Organization/Unit profitable. By the way, the public sector organizations are not made to earn the money but to cater the basic needs of citizens and the right to information, education and entertainment also come under this umbrella as stipulated in the Constitution.

3: The benefits in shape of allowance/ enhancement or up- gradation should be based on the qualification and must not be given to one or two departments and depriving the others.

4: PBC needs reforms and meaningful change and that will only come when we bring it according to the norms of present day Broadcast industry. The whole concept of broadcasting has been changed and this sector is changing from expensive transistor/transmitter based technology to much cheaper web/streaming based out reach.

For this purpose, may I suggest that we should form a committee, immediately, to review the BOD meeting’s decision and prepare a comprehensive plan of reform and development. We would present this plan to our management and people who really matter in decision making. I am sending this reguest to CH and sharing with you as well to get the feed back. I will welcome your concrete suggestions in English or Urdu on my Email address I.e. mshakeeljk@gmail.com.
