The US and Iran are expected to announce the finalisation of a draft proposal of a peace deal to end the war on all fronts within 24 hours, Washington Times reported on Saturday citing sources.

Negotiators from Washington and Tehran have approved the draft proposal that would end the fighting on all fronts by Sunday afternoon, the publication said.

Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam said on Friday that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had congratulated him on the outcome of recent negotiations with Iranian officials following his return from Tehran.

In a post on X, the envoy said: “With conservative optimism, we can hope that, if the other side is adequately committed, a positive stride is taking shape.”

He said the progress was the result of Iran’s position “based on dignity”, the “steadfastness of the courageous armed forces and the resistance of the brave Iranian nation”, along with “the initiative and dedicated endeavours of the Pakistani mediator”.

The ambassador also praised the mediation efforts of the Pakistani government and military leadership, expressing hope that the diplomatic push would help bring lasting peace to the region.

“I extend my sincere and wholehearted gratitude to all of them for their sincere endeavours,” he said.
