A harsh, but true reality is that clean drinking is inaccessible to many people living in third world countries.
Pakistan ranks third among countries facing water shortages.
Now Pakistan has become the 6th most populous country in the world. This rise in population has badly affected the standards of living & water shortage is haunting us.
50 Million Pakistanis lack access to clean& safe drinking water.
A quarter to a third of Pakistan’s population lacks access to drinking water. Rural women pay a particularly heavy price for Pakistan, s water crisis.
There is no survival without water.
630 Pakistani children die each day due to waterborne diseases. Carrying heavy pots (Matkas) on their heads causes unbearable pains. Women are among those who suffer the most. The struggle is real, They live under severe conditions.
An average woman & children walk 6 kilometers a day to collect water. Their entire day is spent collecting water usually fetches water 3 times a day. Because of the lack of clean drinkingng water, children especially vulnerable to water-borne diseases such as Diarrhea, Typhoid, Hepatitis & worm infections.
Women and children to fetch water from long distances carrying such a heavy pot on their heads children also stunt their growth. During rainfall, the terrain becomes slippery due to which many womenenen have fallen and fractured their arms, legs &also head injuries. Along the way, To collect unsafe & dirty water women have to face other dangerous conditions such as rape, animal attacks……etc.
All of this has made their lives very difficult.
THAR is the largest desert of Pakistan and water is a major issue in these desertic areas.
Organizations of some kind-hearted people have been delivering water through the digging of water wells & the installation of hand pumps for the people living in remote & desertic regions.
Muslim Welfare Canada- MWC
Has installed over 1,300 water wells & Hand pumps in the desertic regions of Pakistan.
These Hand pumps will ensure water accessible to villagers, animals &crops.
