The partition of the subcontinent was a chapter in history stained with the blood and carried out by the hopes of millions of people. The culmination of years spent struggling amassed in a crescendo on 14th August 1947, when the voice of Mustafa Ali Hamadani announced the birth of a new nation. The consequences of this long planned for, but hastily enacted division are still felt today, but the voice that beckoned this new era remains a constant reminder of the progress that was a made.
It’s difficult to be proud of somebody you’ve never met. It takes years of precious moments to build relationships and bonds that transcend concepts of time and the tribulations of human temperament that go along with it. We see it day to day with our family and friends that stand as bastions of strength in our lives through the good times as well as the bad. The unconditional love our parents douse us in from the day we are born is somehow magnified when we see the way they love their grandchildren.
I never met my grandfather. He left us too soon, years before I was even born. Yet in ways, his memory remains fresh in my mind, renewed each independence day when we gather to hear his voice beckoning in a new dawn for the new country of Pakistan.

Great and glowing tribute paid by a scintilating grand son to his larger than life grand father. May the virgin soul of Mustafa Ali Hamadani rest in everlasting peace and ease,Ameeen
