It’s a support & assistance group for women who are victims of domestic violence with special emphasis
in the area of deliberate acid & kerosene burning.
The treatment of burn cases is very lengthy and expensive requiring 25 – 30 surgeries over a period of
time Survival also face social isolation as such psychotherapy is crucial . DSF engages psychotherapist for
healing the trauma.
DSF also focus on economic growth of survivors. Some of these are employed in depilex beauty clinics
the others run their own small beauty parlors & earn regular income to support themselves & families.
some completed the nursing courses & serving in leading hospitals others are in banks , pharmaceutical,
telecommunications & small business outlets.
Man can be victims too of acid attacks DSF also supports male acid victims.
Acid violence is one of the worst forms of gender-based violence in Pakistan. This heinous act is usually
instigated by the family dispute, refusal of a marriage proposal, , demand for dovery & family’ honor ‘
issues. Women have also been attacked with acid for female child birth . About a third involved children
splashed with acid when family members were attached.
Every year many women in Pakistan are attacked with acid, despite legislation aimed at prevents such
attacks.
Masarrat Misbah
Founder President Depilex Smileagain Foundation.
She is an incredible Pakistani woman , well known beautician, successful entrepreneur, a loving single
parent & now great philanthropist. This iron lady had to face many hardships in life but she never gave
up.
She says,

Massart Misbah, A graceful smiling face, always grateful to Almighty Allah.
She started Depilex salon, which became one of the biggest Beauty training Institute of Pakistan .The
depilex salon chain has spread across the country & out of the country.
Smile again foundation came into existence in 2003 and recognized as NGO in 2005.
She is the first Pakistani woman to receive an award by the Italian government on women’s day for her
courage and commitment.
She has received so many awards.
International magazines published features on her life & International media made documentaries on
her humanitarian services .
Misbah tells her story of transformation,
“I still remember when a girl walked into my salon in a burka thinking she was a beggar I told her to
come back the next day it was only after she removed her Veil, I saw that there is no nose & an eye is
missing , the neck joined…….. girl has no face
She was the victims of acid attack.
I sat, because I thought that my feet were powerless. This girl said to me
“you are such a big beautician, you have to fix me”
That was the day that changed my life.
Deformed girls & women have lost their faces, Young faceless girls bringing back to life, bring a smile
back on their faces which is so difficult but so rewarding.
I just want to help these girls, I want to be empowered, to be confident & to feel beautiful.
Yes, there’s no beauty left in them but it is……
Once a husband threw acid on his wife along with three young girls , his own daughters.
We should all put an effort as a society & as an individual that we put them to come back to the circle of
life& we love them.
Why can’t you hug them”?
In 2018, the National Assembly unanimously passed the acid & burn crime bill 2017.
But Misbah said,
Making laws will never stop crime only the implementation is important.
Misbah wants to change society.
“Our goal to finish it, but without government actions, it is not possible because
Justice delayed is justice denied.”
She says,
“I believe that I was chosen to help Acid Burn Victims.”
