Translation of Dr. Shams Jilani “Roshni Hira Say” (The migration of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH to Madinah) by Dr. Rehan Asad
Chapter (82)
During last section we discussed that infedils at Makkah were planning to attack Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). They planned to select one member from each tribe & decide to make a surprise attack during the dark hours of night.
As narrated by Hazrat Ayesha (RA) that two days before the migration to Madinah Munawwara, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) visited Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) & asked him to talk in private. When he was assured of privacy then Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that from Almighty Allah I got the message for migrating to the lands of Madinah Al Munawwara.
At this point Hazrat Abu Bark lost his patience & asked, O Prophet of Allah, can you please tell me that can I accompany you in this journey. On this Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) replied, yes you will accompany me on this journey. On listening the consent from him, Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) got so elated. Then he told that I reared two she camels from last four months. They will become our carriers during this journey. This was the foresight of a real friend who has prepared everything in advance. On the other hand, the people of Makkah were frustated by sighting the incresing influence of Islam among the tribes of Madinah. As discussed before, this also appears as a threat for their trade as Yathrib was located on main trade route of Arabia. That’s why they were planning in secret to murder Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). On the other hand Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was worried about the deposits & belongings of other people kept with him. The infidels’ can rob these things. He also want to reflect an example for the Muslim community that the deposits kept under your guarantee whether it’s belonged to Muslims or non-Muslims should be kept with proper care. No one has a right to grab it. Prophet Moses (PBUH) didn’t give back the deposits of Egyptians kept with him so that intention of the migration will not be revealed on them. In present world, the people of Israel consider it permissible to grab the possessions of any one other their community. They use the conduct of Prophet Moses (PBUH) in this regard. But the reality of different, the entire tribes of Jews who accompanied Prophet Moses (PBUH) from Egypt was repenting for bringing those belongings of Egyptian but as we know that the circumstances for the community of Hazrat Moses (PBUH) was completely different. That’s why when Samri asked them to donate those belongings; they immediately gave it to him as a charity. From the gold of Egyptians, Samri crafted a cow. But Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) didn’t want to create an example that will affect the conduct of Muslims in future. There was chance of two vices that can be created if Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) didn’t return the deposits of infidels. First, this will gave an approval to the conduct of Bani Israil. Second, this will stain the trustworthiness, or integrity of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), one among the many virtues of him. So Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) makes an arrangement for solving this issue. He considered one of his most favorite companions for this job. Hazrat Ali (RA) was chosen. As we know that he was son of his favorite uncle, & he raised him like his son. The world has witnessed this incident that not only he left his favorite brother alone in this risky situation but also asked him to sleep on his bed. Hazrat Ali (RA) didn’t ask once that why he is leaving him alone in this risky situation. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also instructed him used his green sheet as cover while sleeping so that all the infidels will remain in doubt. Leaving his favorite brother & companion alone in such a dangerous situation was only due to the deposits of those infidels that was kept with Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as they also considered him like a most trustworthy person in Makkah.
