This year on 28th June Hatfield primary school based in Morden, in south west London celebrated Eid-ul-fitr in their community .
The parent volunteers who are part of the Hatfield parent association organised eid stalls in the school. The stalls had everything special to eid culture, we made 300 pakoras and 300 samosas, the stalls also had sweet cones and cakes and traditional roohafza. The stalls were decorated with eid decorations.
There was an amazing feeling of community and inclusivity through the afternoon. People from all backgrounds came to help and to buy the delicious snacks from the stalls. This is a really special moment for the school but also for the journey of an inclusive and multicultural London. Big public holidays are celebrated and enjoyed by all, and having our children enjoy eid in their school with their school friends (just like Christmas) is a great step for our children.
The stall raised £450 which will all be donated to the school to invest in books about diversity and inclusivity
