Punjab government has not yet finalized any name to succeed the top cop of the province, who is going to retire today after attaining superannuation.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera is going to retire today after attaining superannuation. But the provincial government has not yet decided about the successor of the IGP. The provincial government has not even sent names of three police officers to federal government for picking one of them for the top slot.
CCPO Muhammad Ameen Vince and AIG Punjab Highway Patrol Amjad Javed Saleemi are said to be front runners for the top position for being influential cops. However, former IGP Islamabad Tariq Masood Yassin has also reported in Punjab. On the other hands, AIG Establishment Arif Nawaz Khan, AIG Special Branch Faisal Shahkar, AIG Training Usman Khattak, AIG Commandant Punjab Constabulary Hussain Asghar are also among the senior officers who can be considered for the top slot.
