Maryam Nawaz, daughter of ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif, and her husband Capt (retd) Safdar on Thursday appeared in accountability court, hearing the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) references against them.

During the hearing, Maryam and Captain (r) Safdar requested the court to not indict them as they have not been given any documents including volume 10 of Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report but the NAB prosecutor opposed them after which the verdict has been reserved.

He continued that the accused were provided with copy of NAB references and witnesses about 10 days ago, therefore, their plea to delay indictment should be dismissed.

Nawaz Sharif lawyer Ayesha Hamid arrived at the court and completed her arguments.

The hearing has been adjurned for the second time.

Talking to media outside the court, Maryam Nawaz said that sentenced was given before trial. She said that Nawaz Sharif will arrive in Pakistan in coming week. She also appealed the nation to pray for fast recovery of her mother Kulsoom Nawaz, who has recently won NA-120 by-poll.

It is to be mentioned here that the court is likely to indict Sharif family in reference regarding Park Lane apartments, Al Azizia Steel Mills and offshore companies even though ousted premier Nawaz Sharif and counsel Khawaja Haris are out of the country.
