As temperatures soar, Karachiites are quenching their thirst not just with water but through juices of seasonal fruits. And this time its watermelon that has got everyone hooked in the scorching heat of Karachi.

Rich in vitamins, this red fleshy fruit is also high in water content taking care of that summer thirst.

In summers while there is a high demand of cold drinks, roadside stalls selling cool watermelon drinks at Karachi’s locality of Water Pump are thriving.

Watermelon fruit is made up of 92 per cent water and is rich in important electrolytes. The fruit is used in summers to prevent dehydration.

Jumma Khan, who has been selling watermelon juice for the past twenty two years, says the demand for fresh fruit juices rises as soon as the temperatures soar.

With a high demand especially with the heatwave hitting the city, people continue to make their way to Jumma Khan’s stall where they find the famous refreshing drink.
