Quds Force commander Esmail Qaani has said the United States is facing a “humiliating situation” across the region, from Lebanon to Iraq, Iran’s Fars news agency reported.

Qaani, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said Iran was witnessing a new era of resistance against US “hegemony”.

“The United States has been expelled from Iraq with all its capabilities,” he said, referring to the end of the 23-year US military presence in Iraq.

On Wednesday, the US Department of Defence confirmed that the final American troops deployed to Iraq as part of an anti-ISIL (ISIS) mission had left the country, completing a years-long withdrawal process.

Qaani also addressed the situation in Lebanon, saying Hezbollah had “stood firm” despite US and Israeli claims that the group had been eliminated.
