Translation of Dr. Shams Jilani “Roshni Hira Say”
Section 177
Further fighting & injuries inflicted on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
During the last section, we reached up to the point where Abu Sufiyan thought
that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), & Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (RA) get
martyred in the battle. And he was about to rejoice the moment. For
confirming, he started repeating the same thing again and again, Hazrat Umar
(RA) could not be restrained. And they answered him, O wretched person, we
are all here. On this he said that you have seen how great our god Hubal is that
he brought us here the revenge of Badr. Hearing these words from the mouth
of Abu Sufyan, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ordered that you should
now answer him, "The great is God alone, and besides whom there is no god."
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ) at that time was surrounded by thirty
Muslims, & the infidels who came in the company of this evil one attacked
them again and wanted to kill them all at once. So once again the fierce battle
started. On the other hand, Khalid bin Waleed also arrived and both factions
pushed hard enough to martyr handful of Muslim. He was also announcing
with his blessed language, "O people, come to me. I am the Messenger of God
(PBUH). So they also came there and started fighting fiercely. When the
opposition party realized that access to Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is
impossible, the infidels stood on high places and started pelting stones. In this
regard, Ibn Hisham (RA) has written that he heard from Rabi' bin Abd al-
Rahman and he heard from his father Abd al-Rahman (RA) that the person
who threw stones at the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was Uqbah bin Abi
Waqqas. Due to which one of his blessed lower teeth was martyred and
blessed lips were injured. Then his blessed forehead was injured by Abdullah
bin Shahab Zahri and the third person who tortured the Holy Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) was Mardud Ibn Qumiyah, who had previously killed a
companion by deceiving. He injured the upper part of the Holy Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) in such a way that two chains of his own self were
attached to the face of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Further, Ibn
Ishaq (may Allah be pleased with him) writes that Hamid al-Taweel narrated
from him the tradition of Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that
in the battle of Uhud, the lower tooth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace
be upon him) was broken and his face was covered with blood. He (pbuh)
used to wipe the blood from his face while saying: "How can a people prosper
who is staining the face of their Prophet (pbuh) with blood, who is calling
them to their Lord." Here the eyewitness testimony of Umm Amara (R.A.) has
also been recorded. She says that in the morning on the day of Uhud, I came
with two muskets of water and was serving water to the Mujahideen and my
center was near the Messenger of Allah.
Then I saw that the Muslims had pushed the infidels down from this hill, after
that I saw the Muslims retreating after a great victory. Then I saw that some
Mujahideen had gathered again on the hill and the enemy was also pressing
there, so the battle started again loudly. I asked one of the Companions how
these wounds came to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and he replied
that the disbelievers were trying to climb the hill when a cursed man threw a
stone at the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from above. The forehead of
Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was injured. After that, I saw that the
Muslims repulsed the enemy, so I came down from the mountain. Further, Ibn
Hisham (RA) said that after the dispersal of the Muslims, the person who
gathered the Companions twice was Anas bin Malik (RA), the uncle of Hazrat
Anas (RA).
