Translation of Dr. Shams Jilani “Roshni Hira Say” (The light from Cave of Hira) by Dr.
Section 175
First victory, then defeat, then the victory and the wounds inflicted on
Prophet (PBUH).
During the last section, we discussed about the Christian priest or Rahib
whose name was Hanzila. He also participated in Battle of Badr & killed by the
sword of Hazrat Shaddad bin Aws (RA).
When, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) sighted his dead body, he said,
"Ask his loved ones that whoever is bathed by the angels, does this happen to
him?" And when his dead body was handed over to his father, he touched his
chest and said: O Allah! Am I guilty of his actions? Going further, Ibn Ishaq
(may Allah be pleased with him) says that after that two Bedouins started
fighting and Allah Almighty helped the Muslims and the disbelievers retreated
in spite of their large numbers. Narrated by Ibn Zubair that Hazrat Zubair
(R.A.) saw that Hind bint Uqbah was with a group of women to encourage the
infidel army, and she stayed behind. The infidels fled and left her behind. They
went and the Muslims pursued them saying Al-Ghunima! Al-Ghanima, even
the archers who had been appointed by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
at the mouth of the valley, in spite of the prohibition of Hazrat Abdullah bin
Jubeer (RA) to leave the front and set off in pursuit. So some disbelievers
turned back out of honor and meanwhile, some unlucky one shouted that the
Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had been killed. So it was natural for the
Muslims to turn back. Thus due to the disobedience of the Prophet (PBUH),
this winning game began to reverse. In fact, it was intended from Almighty
Allah that whenever you disobey the Prophet (pbuh), the result will be the
same. It is at that time when some of the great companions & Prophet
Muhamad (PBUH) himself were also present in them; even then everyone had
to suffer due to a little disobedience. There is a saying that when there is a fire,
the grass does not see anything dry. Disobedience was done by a few and
everyone was punished. At the same time, Khalid bin Waleed, who was the
commander of the infidels' army at that time, was attacked from behind.
Finally, ten archers resisted him and were martyred one by one while
defending them. At that time, Ibn Ishaq (may Allah be pleased with him) says
that the flag was in the hands of Hazrat Sawab (may Allah be pleased with
him), it is not written that how the flag came from the hands of Hazrat Ali
Karamullah Wajhu, but it can be presumed that when Hazrat Ali Karam Allah
Wajhu heard the news of the martyrdom of the Holy Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH), he might turn back in search of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) himself,
handing the flag over to a Mujahideen. If they looked back, it would have had a
great effect, the enemy would have thought that the army of Islam was
retreating, because at that time, the enemy usually kept eyes on the flag and
his advance would lead to victory and retreat or falling down was considered
as defeat. And when the flag of Islam reached Hazrat Sawab (RA), he did not
allow the flag of Islam to fall when his right hand was cut off.
When he went, he held it up with his left hand and when both hands were
martyred, he put it on his chest. After that, when he too was martyred, Hazrat
Umrah bint Alkamah (RA) took it in her hand. . And they continue to excite the
Muslims by waving it. But Ibn Hisham has written against it. But some poems
of Hazrat Hasan (RA) bin Thabit are in praise of both of them. Therefore, it is
most likely that both of them were raising the flag of Islam. Ibn Ishaq (may
Allah be pleased with him) further writes that time was no less than the Day
of Judgment for the Muslims because a large number of them had reached the
level of martyrdom after hearing the news of the martyrdom of the Holy
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). They were not able to decide, where to go and
what to do! On the other hand, the situation was that the Holy Prophet (PBUH)
was injured and fell into a pit, which the enemies of Islam had dug so that the
Muslims would fall into it by deception and they would be killed. He had also
hidden it with grass so that they could not be seen. But see the mercy of God
that that deadly pit was made the refuge of the Holy Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH). After a while, the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
reached there while searching. The situation was that the face of Holy Prophet
(PBUH) was covered with blood and it was difficult to identify him because he
was wearing double armor, but the companions recognized him from the
special shine of his (PBUH) eyes. Hazrat Ali Karamullah Rabi and Hazrat Umar
(R.A.) took him out with difficulty and Hazrat Saeed (R.A.) bandaged the
wounds.
