Section 195
Invasion of Sawiq, marriage with Hazrat Zainab & other incidents of
Hijra
During the last session, we talked about the background, how the name Sawiq
originated. What was the background for this war? As we discussed, when
people were in the state of trouble, they remember Almighty Allah and again,
they revert to their adamant behavior. As we saw they don’t want to indulge
in the war.
Otherwise, if they respected the sanctity of the month that war is forbidden in
Shawwal, why did they not think of Ramadan on the occasion of the first
Battle of Badr, while the first Battle of Badr took place in the month of
Ramadan. And you know that the people of the deserts only eat flour powder
when they have no good food to eat. Since they had only Suwayq (Sattu in
Hindi/Urdu) as their mean for the feed, the name of this campaign is more
famous as Ghazwah Suwayq instead of the battle of Badr al-Akhr. May Allah,
the Almighty know best. Therefore, the way he presented the situation, the
courage of the disbelievers got shattered and they also went back to Makkah
with his companions. According to some historians, there were fifteen
hundred companions along with Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on this
campaign. When the Holy Prophet was encamped, the people from the tribe
of Bani Zumrah were concerned about the Prophet (PBUH)'s intentions. If
you remember that during the battle of Wadda, a peace agreement came in
existence with this tribe. To their question, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) replied,
"We came out with the intention of fighting the Quraysh. However, you have
come to break the agreement that was made between us in the past years, so
tell me?" On this, their representative Makshi bin Umruh bin Zumrah replied
that we have no idea of breaking the agreement, and neither have we ever
thought of such a thing. I only came to find out the purpose of your arrival. So
when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) got satisfied with the discussion from this
tribe, then he considered to go back to Madinah.
But in the meantime, Allah made everyone rich from the trade that was done
with the caravans that passed through there, which is evident from the verse
that was revealed on that occasion.
فَانقَلَبُوا بِنِعْمَةٍ مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَفَضْلٍ لَّمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوءٌ وَاتَّبَعُوا رِضْوَانَ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَظِيمٍ
A few more events that happened in the year of 04 th Hijri. The first shock that
befell the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in this year was the death of his grandson
Hazrat Abdullah Bin Uthman (RA) in his childhood days. It was from the
womb of his daughter Hazrat Ruqyah (RA). He died at the age of six years and
his funeral prayer was led by Holy Prophet (PBUH). Hazrat Usman's mother
took him to the grave. Then, in the month of Shawwal, Allah gave another
grandson, who was named Hazrat Hussain (AS), who was born from the
blessed womb of Hazrat Fatima (S), whose achievements and name are known
to the whole world.
