Section 191
The battle of Lihaan & Dhat al-Riqa
In the previous episode, we had reached Ghazwa Banu Nazir, let us now move
forward. Bahqi has written in a tradition that a scholar of Banu Qurayza
whose name was Amru bin Saadi returned to his tribe Banu Qurayza, and he
met Banu Nazir on the way. When he saw the fate of the deserted settlement,
he was very worried and when he reached his tribe, he did not find the people
in the temple, so he rang the bell which was used to gather the people. When
the people gathered around him, Zubair bin Bata among them asked, O Amru,
where did you stay for so many days, on listening this, he replied that I will
answer your query later. First, tell me that you people have seen the fate of
Banu Nazir twice, once when they were expelled because of their opposition
to Muhammad (PBUH) and the second time I have just come to see that no one
in their town has left alive who could be seen peeping through a window.
Although they were among the prosperous people in Madinah, but they were
expelled from there due to their mischief and opposition on the trivial
matters, and even after that, they built even more magnificent and
comfortable houses on the strength of their wealth. What happened to them?
Despite seeing all this, now tell me that what is now a reason that prevents
you from believing in Muhammad (PBUH). Is it not the same Prophet (PBUH)
whose mention and recognition is not the same as what is written in his book?
I am sure that these are the Prophets (PBUH) mentioned in our book. And I
see these qualities clearly in him and you do not believe in my words, so ask
your scholars Ibn Bayan, Abu Umayr and Ibn Harash who have recently
completed their studies from Bait al-Maqdis & returned here I think we now
should abandon Muhammad (PBUH) opposition and follow them. Otherwise,
be prepared for the same fate. After hearing these words of Amr bin Ka'b, Ka'b
bin Asad replied, "When it is such a thing, why have you not become a Muslim
yet? What is the reason that had prevented you in accepting Islam?" So, he
replied that you, because we people have left our holy book, Taurah & land
your words have taken the place of the Taurah. Here, if anyone's suggestions
are accepted, then its only yours.
