Translation of Dr. Shams Jilani “Roshni Hira Say” (The light
from Cave of Hira) by Dr. Rehan Asad
Chapter (76)
The training for the Namaz (Prayers), & the death of Hazrat
Khadija & Hazrat Abu Talib.
During last section we discussed that when the incident of Miraj
took place, it was after the departure of his beloved wife Hazrat
Khadijatul Kubra (RA). As due to pain what he felt with her
departure, the Prophet (PBUH) preferred to stay at the home of
his aunt, Hazrat Umm Hani (RA). The pain what Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) perceived with the departure of his beloved
wife & uncle was so extreme that in Islamic history, this year
has been documented as Aam Al Hazan that literally means the
year of sorrow.
Regarding the last time of Hazrat Abu Talib there has been
many narrations given in history. When he was in his last
stages of life, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) came to visit him &
asked, o my dear uncle, please recite these words, La Ilaha
Illah, There is no deity but Allah. So that in front of Almighty
Allah I will witness that you accepted the Islam. On this moment
Abu Jahal & Ibn Abu Ummaya was present with him. Both of
them said, O Abu Talib, did you will leave the religion of your
ancestors. Did you will leave the faith of Abdul Muttalib. After
all, at the end, Abu Talib said that I will die on the religion of
Abdul Muttalib as the people of Makkah will say that due to the
dear of the death, he left the religion of his ancestors.
On this Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that I will made
prayers for you till the moment, Almighty Allah will not stop me
for doing this. This is the narration in Muslim & Bukhari. But Ibn
Ishaq has narrated that close to the death, Abu Talib lips were
moving & when Hazrat Abbas (RA) put his ears close to his lips.
He found that Abu Talib was reciting the same words, which
were asked by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). There has been
difference among the scholars of hadith regarding this incident.
If we try to explore the answer of Abu Talib then this issue can
be resolved. He said, that I am dying on the religion of Abdul
Muttalib. Then what was the religion of Abdul Muttalib. The
religion of Hazrat Abdul Muttalib was the religion of Hazrat
Abraham (PBUH). As we know that no prophet has come in this
tribe after Hazrat Ismail (PBUH) that’s why there religion got
diluted with the time. As we had similar situation in present
days. Many of us without having an awareness reached up to
the extent of Kufr & shirk. This was the same situation in those
days. But after the passing of Hazrat Ismaeel (PBUH), the
idolatry crept in the tribe. This was widely document in different
sources, that there were two groups among the Qureysh tribe,
one that was on the path of Hazrat Ibrahim (PBUH) & second
one those who deviated from this path. Majority of the scholars
in Islamic history has agreed upon that Prophet Father, Hazrat
Abdullah, his mother Hazrat Aamina, Hazrat Abdul Muttalib,
Hazrat Ali & Hazrat Abu Bark (RA) has never worshiped any
idol in their life time even before the Islam. If we accept this fact
that Abu Talib said that I will die on the religion of Hazrat Abdul
Muttalib then this argument gave an explanation. In fact when
Abraha came to attack the holy Kaba, Hazrat Abdul Muttalib
said, that I am worried about my camels not for Kaba. He said
that the owner of Kaba is Almighty Allah who will protect his
house.
