Australia suffered a major setback ahead of the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan after captain Mitchell Marsh was ruled out due to injury, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
According to Cricket Australia, wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will lead the Australian side in Marsh’s absence during the ODI series against Pakistan.
Marsh will remain in Perth for further medical assessment and treatment after being declared unfit for the tour.
However, Cricket Australia did not immediately disclose the nature or severity of the injury.
The absence of Marsh is seen as a significant blow for Australia.
Australia are scheduled to face Pakistan in the ODI series later this month.
