PTI leader and senior lawyer Ali Zafar, during interaction with the media, Saturday said the presidential election was being held despite a stay order of the court.
The senior counsel said a case regarding the election was pending in the Lahore High Court, while the Peshawar High Court had issued injunction in a case and another case was also filed at the Sindh High Court.
It was mentioned in the case that the presidential election would be illegal and unconstitutional, he said, as the reserved seats were not given to them. He said that the election was not free and fair.
“If there is a parliamentary condition, we will vote but in protest. No matter what, we have to participate in the election,” he said.
Ali Zafar said first the general elections became controversial due to the decisions of the Election Commission, now the presidential poll.
The process of the presidential election continues in a peaceful atmosphere at the Punjab Assembly with a large number of government and Opposition members present in the house.
So far, 18 members of the provincial assembly have cast their votes.
