A key character in the Mehran Bank scandal, Younus Habib passed away at a Karachi hospital on Wednesday, his son Tariq Habib confirmed to Hum News.
According to Tariq Habib, his father had been unwell for some time and was suffering from complications with multiple organs. He was being treated at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi for the last 10 days.
Younus Habib’s funeral prayers will be offered in Karachi later today.
Habib was a main character in the Asghar Khan case involving payments to politicians via the Mehran Bank to sway the election in 1990.
Air Marshal (R) Asghar Khan had confessed that in order to sway the election away from Late Benazir Bhutto, Younus Habib’s Mehran Bank was used to distribute funds between opposition politicians
