The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday grilled Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in a case pertaining to alleged suspicious transactions involving M/s Harish and Company.
The NAB team headed by senior officer Irfan Mangi recorded the former president’s statement regarding suspicious transactions through his firm M/s Harish and Company. Zardari also recorded his statement in a case pertaining to the Opal 225 property owned by the Zardari Group.
The NAB has prepared six corruption cases against Zardari, who is already facing an investigation regarding alleged money-laundering through fake bank accounts.
On Wednesday, the Islamabad High Court granted interim bail to Zardari in the six corruption cases including the alleged money-laundering case. However, the high court adjourned the hearing in the M/s Harish and Company case till May 30, virtually allowing the anti-graft body to record the statement of the former president.
Zardari has also been granted interim bail in the Opal 225 property case till until June 12 against a surety bond of Rs500,000.
