Translation of Dr. Shams Jilani “Roshni Hira Say”
Section: 129
The Departure of Prophet (PBUH) to Badr & his stay
During last section we reached up to the point that the Prophet (PBUH) was
addressing to the Ansars. And in this conversation, Hazrat Saad bin Muad (RA)
had replied to him, that we accepted Islam & we had belief on you. Whatever
commitment had been required, we (Ansars) will fulfill. Then he said, O
Prophet of Allah, I swear in the name of Almighty Allah, who had given you
this mission with truthfulness, even if you stand in the front of the sea & asked
us to enter inside it. We will follow the instructions. Even the single man from
the tribe of Ansars will not turn his back in the battle field. We always prefer
to stand with you till the last moment. We believe that Almighty Allah will
show us his mercy & we will be able to stand in the battlefield. On listening
Hazrat Saad bin Muad (RA), the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) get happy &
made lot of supplications for them. Then Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave
the news to the companions, & said, this is the time for the happiness. As the
Almighty Allah, has promise me for the one of the group who will be
participating in this battle. And then further said that I am seeing the places &
landmarks, where these people will leave us. Then Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH) left Dafran & passed by the hills that were known as Al Asafir. Then he
took the route to a locality that was known as Al Dabba. And then to Al
Hannan that was like a big mountain. After bypassing some main routes,
finally the caravan of Muslims along with Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
reached close to the Badr. After reaching to this place, Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH) along with Hazrat Abu Bark (RA) reached to the nearby locality. Here
they went close to an Old Arab nomad & asked from him about the Qureysh. In
return, this old man asked about the identity of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
After this the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) replied, that we are from the water.
From this answer, it’s not easy for common man to understand. The Arab old
man himself explained, and gave answer, Oh I see, it means you are from Iraq.
Then he said that I got the information about the movement of the
Muhammad (PBUH) & his troops. They had reached to this point. And then
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) enquired him about the movement of the
Qureysh. And the old man gave the complete information about the movement
of their troops. Ibn Hasham (RA) cited the name of the old man as Sufiyan
Zamri Al Tahriri.
Ibn Ishaq (RA) further said, that after this Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) send
Hazrat Ali (RA), Zubair bin Awaam (RA), & Saad bin Abi Waqqas (RA) to the
spring of Badr so that some information from the water carriers can be
retrieved. Near the spring they found two people who were probably the
slaves of the Qureysh. They imprisoned them & brought to the camp. In the
camp, they were identified as the slaves of Abu Sufiyan.
