Section 186
Bani Asad's campaign, marriage of Prophet to Umm Salma and incident
of Raji
In the previous episode, we ended up to the section where the marriage of
Umm Salma (RA) took place with Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Now we will
continue to discuss the incident of Raji.
In fact, Raji is the name of a place eight miles away from Madinah, which was
the spring of the Bazeel tribe at that time and was in their possession. Ibn
Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated it to Ziyad bin Abdullah and
he has written with reference to Asim bin Amr bin Qatadah that after the
battle of Uhud, a delegation from the tribe of Uzal and Qara came and
requested that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ), Allah has sent Islam among
us people, but Islamic teachings have not reached us completely, so we want
you to do some things with us so that all People can benefit from Islamic
teachings. Therefore, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) sent six of his companions,
whose leader was Hazrat Murshad (R.A.) bin Abu Murshad Asadi, or the
remaining five Companions, whose names are listed below, along with him.
But they had already done it with Banu Huzail. Historians are silent on what
was the reason for this, but from the speculations and characters, it appears
that the occupation of the tribe at that time was slave trade. God knows.
However, when these people reached the fountain of Raji, they started
shouting for help to the Huzalis. Before any help could reach them, three of
the Mujahideen, whose names were Murshid bin Abu Murshid, Khalid bin
Bagir and Asim bin Thabit, came against him with swords and the other three
men who were unarmed. Khabib bin Adi, Hazrat Zayd bin Dasnah and Hazrat
Abdullah, (RA) bin Tariq rode on camels. The above mentioned three men
overpowered the disbelievers and tied them with ropes, on which they began
to swear that by Allah we had no intention of killing you, but we have one
thing from the people of Makkah, that we had entrusted to the tribe of Hazal
before coming here. Please had trust in us. For that he was calling them to
deliver you. But these people did not accept this trick of theirs nor did they
give any importance to their words, but they got enough time in this
conversation which they needed. According to the plan, the Banu Al-Hazal
reached them and they were in large numbers, so these three who were busy
fighters were martyred one by one and the remaining three Companions who
were on camels had no choice but to do so. That they surrender themselves to
the enemy because they were unarmed. A strange incident happened here.
When Asim Bin Thabit (RA) got martyred, the infidels wanted to cut him off
and sell the hands of the Salafa. Because Salafa Bint Saad was the woman
whose two sons were killed by Hazrat Asim (RA). She had sworn that if Asim
(RA) comes under his control, and when he will be killed, I will make the wine
cup from his skull. But the strange thing is that just now the Hazilis were
encircled by the thousands of bees that arrived there from an unknown places
and surrounded the dead body from all sides, so they decided that when these
bees would leave in the evening. If they do, they will cut off their heads. But
God did not accept the desecration of his dead body by the hands of infidels.
So, in the meantime it started raining heavily and the dead body went into the
rain gutter flowing through the slope and got washed away. It should be noted
that the rain drains remain dry in the deserts, but when it rains, these
elephants can get submerged in it and at that time it becomes impossible for
them to stay in front of the flood.
