The son of renowned Pakistani lawyer Akram Sheikh, Lahore High Court Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh, has resigned from his position.
Justice Raheel Kamran was appointed as a judge on May 7, 2021, and was due to retire in 2036.
Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh said that serving as a judge had been an honour and a matter of pride. Following his resignation, he has decided to pursue legal scholarship, policy research, and comparative judicial practice.
According to Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh, the years he spent on the judicial bench were among the most important and fulfilling years of his professional life. He said he was leaving the bench with a firm commitment to the rule of the Constitution and the law.
Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh has also sent a copy of his resignation to the Registrar of the Lahore High Court.
