Section: 178
Further fighting & injuries inflicted on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
During the last section, we reached up to the point where the companions again repulsed the enemies back. At the same time, Abi bin Khalaf reached the hill where the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was resting and said, “Muhammad (PBUH) if you are saved, may Allah Almighty not keep me alive.” When the Muslims asked him for permission to compete, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said, “Let him come.” (Leave him) Then when Ibn Khalaf came near, it is in some hadiths that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) threw a spear at him while sitting and it touched him by the side, & he did not suffer any injury. But he ran away saying this, that Muhammad (PBUH) had killed me.
Muhammad (PBUH) killed me. But Ibn Ishaq (RA) describes it differently. He says that Saleh bin Ibrahim told me that Abd al-Rahman Binauf (RA) himself told him that Abi Ibn Khalaf met the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in Makkah and he said that I have this place of refuge. This is the horse of mine which I feed one grain a day so that I can ride it and kill you. Hearing this, the Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) replied, “God willing, I will kill you.” So when he came against them, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade everyone to fight, and he himself took a spear from Harith bin Sama’ah and first twisted it and then thrust it on his neck, & injuries inflicted from this attack were minor, but from that moment he began to cry that by the name of Allah, the Muhammad (PBUH) killed me. Qureysh comforted him that why he is getting so nervous, otherwise he is still fit & fine. On this, Abi Khalaf said that Muhammad (PBUH) said to me in Makkah that I will kill you. By name of the God, even if he had spat on me, I would have died. When Qureysh was returning to Makkah, he died on the way. When the people repulsed the enemy, at that time, they got engaged in taking care of wounded for doing treatment. First of all, Hazrat Ali (RA) went to the well and brought water from there, which the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) refused to drink because of the bad smell. So from that water, the wounds were started to be washed with it. First of all, he started washing the blessed face and when water was poured over the blessed head of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Holy Prophet (PBUH) began to say, “The wrath of Allah has become intense on him who has immersed my head & face in blood”. On hearing this, Hazrat Saad bin Abi Waqqas (RA), the brother of Uqbah, said, “By God, I have never had such a strong desire to kill anyone as I did to kill my brother Uqbah bin Waqqas. If I knew that I would be enraged by this among my people, but this statement of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was enough for me: “The wrath of Allah has become intense on the person who had stained the face of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) with blood. It should be noted that Mubarak’s face was injured by Uqbah bin Waqqas.
